The FTC has published a fact for the Consumers on Diet Ads, recommending that consumers evaluate all diet products with a “healthy portion of skepticism”. The FTC investigates complaints against health or dietary supplements.

Up to date, the FTC have not reported any complaints about hoodia products side effects. There are several pending class action suits against products which claim to contain hoodia gordonii, but they are against the absence of hoodia, not the side effects, which is different.

Hoodia Gordonii is a relatively new product into the weight loss markets into America and European countries. This powerful appetite suppressant is increasingly being sold mostly in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany and Spain, among other markets.

However, Hoodia commercial cultivation in South Africa is becoming in short supply due to the continuous growing demand for Hoodia diet pills. Therefore, some counterfeited products are flourishing into the market, made with other hoodia varieties (not Hoodia Gordonii) coming from Mexico and China.

Besides it, the real benefit to be obtained by the final customer is confusing, because of the qualities of Hoodia being used in different formulations, be as 100% Hoodia Gordonii powder or 20:1 Hoodia Gordonii extract. Even more, the quantity of Hoodia used, creates different pricing ranges, generating a misunderstanding on what you are receiving for the price to be paid, and finally, if all that will help reduce your weight.

Frequently, many consumers search the Net to find out hoodia reports, hoodia consumer reviews, hoodia alert warnings, hoodia scams, hoodia rating lists or hoodia comparison sites.

It is important consumers search for well credited sites, mostly belonging to governmental agencies, or non commercial and/or non profit organizations, not related to any pharmaceutical or herbal manufacturer, hoodia wholesaler, hoodia reseller or hoodia affiliate, because most of hoodia report sites, hoodia comparison sites or similar Hoodia alert sites are developed, maintained or sponsored in several ways by hoodia manufacturers, hoodia wholesalers, hoodia resellers and hoodia affiliates.

Several comparison sites or blogs with extensive information about different hoodia brands are owned or financed by hoodia companies. In most cases, site owners are hoodia companies hidden behind other organization names. Those sites usually includes a rating, brand name, manufacturing company name, price, cap size, # of caps, source (South Africa or unknown), if product has 100% hoodia or other percentages and if certificates are valid and visible.

Be aware if affiliate sites with strange names also. It is logical to think that a hoodia affiliate site is going to promote and rate top ten to the product where is getting a commission for a sale.

Most of those sites are unfair competition.
